Kiryama Hill takes its name from the Kirundi verb “Kuryama”, meaning “to sleep”, once known as a place of rest for travelling royalty drawn to its calm and natural beauty. Today, that sense of balance remains, reflected in coffees that are refined, smooth, and quietly expressive of place.
This release is one in a series of coffees we are sharing from Burundi this year. After three years of building relationships in a complex producing landscape, we’ve partnered with TIB to finally bring coffees from this region to market, showcasing bright, fruit-forward clarity in the cup, and the exciting potential of this origin.

TIB Coffee, short for “This Is Burundi,” a local expression capturing resilience in the face of challenges, is a family‑owned speciality coffee project led by Prosper Merimee and his family, who bring more than 25 years of industry experience. Their work centres on building long‑term partnerships with smallholder farmers, grounded in trust, training and improving agricultural practices. With a mission to create sustainable, lasting impact, TIB invests in farmer support, fair compensation and community development. By focusing on responsible practices and direct collaboration, they aim to elevate both coffee quality and livelihoods, ensuring Burundi’s producers can thrive through the craft of speciality coffee.

Origin

In 2020, TIB Coffee acquired a piece of land in Karambo Hill, Gasorwe Commune, Muyinga District, located in the northeastern region of Burundi. This area is blessed with ideal conditions for growing top-tier specialty coffee. The region is also known for its natural beauty, including the Ruvubu National Park and the Ruvubu River, which flows into the Nile. Beyond coffee, Muyinga is rich in gold and coltan mines, adding to its unique appeal.
